FRONTLINE FUTURE FUND
August 5 2020
Today, we’re proud to announce a new milestone. As a result of your ongoing support, we’ve raised $50,000 towards causes that support the black community. Donations have been split evenly across three causes: Empowering our community through Black Lives Matter Los Angeles, Reforming mass incarceration and excessive punishment through Equal Justice Initiative, and partnering with Fair Fight to ensure everyone the fundamental right to vote.
For our next chapter in giving, we’ve partnered with UCLA to support the future of healthcare. At this critical moment, the industry must not only manage current challenges, but prepare for tomorrow. Our commitment will fund financial need scholarships for 25 students into UCLA Medical School Programs, and we need your help to get to 50. From today, we’re donating 10% of proceeds on all sales to the Frontline Future Fund. Let’s get the future’s great thinkers, scientists, frontline workers and health care professionals here as soon as possible.
Empower. Reform. Vote.
June 7 2020
A thought crystallized for me over the past few weeks: “How can we be better?” Personally, I’ve been trying to listen and learn. As a result, our brand’s mission has evolved. We are committed to fighting for important causes permanently.
Beginning in March 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we raised over $100,000 for UCLA Health Fund. We're proud of this achievement and remain committed to the fight, but if we’ve learned anything this year, it’s not enough to react to current events. We acknowledge our responsibility as a brand to voice our values and what we stand for. We must proactively work for, and embody change.
As a first step, a portion of our proceeds are committed to three initiatives:
Empowering our community through Black Lives Matter Los Angeles, Reforming mass incarceration and excessive punishment through Equal Justice Initiative, and partnering with Fair Fight to ensure everyone the fundamental right to vote.
We recognize that this is only the beginning of a long journey.
Black Lives Matter. The deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and countless others should have been avoided. As a brand heavily inspired by black culture, we want to open the dialogue with our community and continue identifying ways to stay involved through our actions.
This process will take time and we invite you to join us as we stand in solidarity with the black community and support the fight for freedom, liberation, and justice.
MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE ORGANIZATIONS WE SUPPORT:
Black Lives Matter Los Angeleshttps://www.blmla.org
The first chapter of Black Lives Matter was birthed in Los Angeles. We support their mission to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities. By combating and countering acts of violence, creating space for Black imagination and innovation, and centering Black joy, BLM is winning immediate improvements in the lives of Black people.
Equal Justice Initiativehttps://eji.org
The Equal Justice Initiative is committed to ending mass incarceration and excessive punishment in the United States, to challenging racial and economic injustice, and to protecting basic human rights for the most vulnerable people in American society.
Voting is the cornerstone of our democracy and the fundamental right upon which all our civil liberties rest. By aligning with Fair Fight, we commit resources to encourage voter participation and educate voters about elections and their voting rights. Fair Fight brings awareness to the public on election reform, advocates for election reform at all levels, and engages in voter education programs.
UCLA Health Fund
Coronavirus Research and Educationhttps://uclahealth.org/giving/covid-19-philanthropic-support
As of June 2020, we’ve funded approximately 1,000 meals per event for hospital staff and visitors at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and UCLA Medical Center, Santa Monica. In addition, we’ve underwritten a Medtronic 980 ventilator. Ventilators, which are typically in service for 10 years, help UCLA save lives today and into the future.
Our initiative, ‘All-In for The Frontline,’ provides funds to increase internal testing and expand efforts to hospitals throughout Los Angeles, seed research to combat emerging infectious diseases, and support infectious disease education for health care providers and the public. With its medical centers ranked No. 1 in California and No. 6 in the nation, UCLA Health is engaging in promising coordinated clinical and public health research in partnership with local and national government agencies and academic institutions.
